The customs, the local festivities and the traditions of a one thousand culture old. Alta Ribagorça region has a lot of ancient popular traditions. And the most popular custom are the firework celebrations, celebrated from time immemorial and almost full kept in all the villages of the region. Firework celebrations are made with about two metres lengh resin logs. Every year, when the day celebration of every village is so near, some tooths are planted in order to construct the main and initial bonfire or “faro” in a hight point near the village. Every participant sets fire his trunk and the descent up to the village is begined. There, participants are recibed and they compouse a bonfire with their trunks. The celebration ends with dances around the bonfire. Among the more typical dances of the region, there is what is named as "Bastons de Malpàs", celebrated for Saint Peter (29th june). In Vilaller there is "el Tatero", that is danced in the first day of the local festivities (15th august), at the same time that the butler change. And in Taüll, the "Sant Isidre" dances: "la Pila" and "el Ball Pla". The local festivities begine with the "Sant Isidre" dance. Next, the "Pila" is made, a kind of castle with a lot of people making the base of the humane tower, and finally it is danced " el ball del Pla", that consists in dances between married and unmarried couples at the rhythm of the music.
